The Third European Conference for Archival Educators and Trainers
The Third ‘European Conference for Archival Educators and Trainers’ will be organised by the Archiefschool (Netherlands Institute for archival education and – research) and will take place in Amsterdam (Netherlands), on 30-31 August 2005, preceding I-CHORA II (the International Conference on the History of Records and Archives).
The European Conference for Archival Educators and Trainers has been created to provide archival educators from the different countries and cultures of Europe with a platform to discuss the issues they are facing.
The first and second European Conferences have taken place in Marburg, Germany (2001) and Härnösand, Sweden (2003).
On both occasions, the Conference was organised in close co-operation with the Steering Committee of SAE (the Section for Archival Educators and Trainers of ICA). This combination has proved to create unique cross-fertilising possibilities:
- Compare developments in Europe with what happens in the rest of the world
- Make clear to the global community of archival educators what the actual specific European issues are
- Discuss the needs in other, less favourable regions and the possibilities to contribute
Therefore, this success-formula will be continued in the Amsterdam Conference.
